Liebster Blog Award!

When I first started blogging, I remember seeing someone who had won The Liebster Blog Award.  I remember thinking, "How cool! I want to win that!"

And now, thanks to Tori Peterson of Mommy's Musings, I have!  Tori found me through the amazing blog network known as Voiceboks. If you're a parenting blogger you should be all over that site.  I thank her for her graciousness, generosity and warmth in reaching out and introducing herself and her wonderful blog to me.

The Liebster Blog Award is given to upcoming bloggers who have 200 followers or less. The word Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

Here are the Rules:
1. Each person must post 11 random facts about themselves.
2. Answer 11 questions the tagger has given you and give 11 questions for the people you tagged.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
4. Tell them you've tagged them.
5. Remember, no tag backs.

11 Random facts about me!
1. When I feel particularly wronged, the underdog in my own life, I need to see Braveheart or Gladiator.  That speech from Gladiator about vengeance in this life or the next does it for me.  Stop smirking.
2.  Since college, at Easter time I have hoarded Mike and Ike jelly beans.
3.  While I could make a mean chocolate mousse at age 10, today it seems that complicated recipes give me panic attacks.
4.  My favorite magazines are a tie between Real Simple and The New Yorker.
5. I find bad parkers to be the scourge of God, but I would never say anything to them!
6.  When I was about 8, at the 5th Avenue (NYC) Easter parade, I snuck up and tapped Mayor Ed Koch on the back.  He bent down and said, "Hello, little girl!"  I was so happy!
7.  At summer camp, on a dare, I drank a quart of Stewart's ginger ale.  Sick?  Yes, very.
8.  I am a mother jealous of her daughter.  Have you seen the girl's eyelashes?  So unfair!
9.  I co-founded a dance company--still going--called BodyHype. (It was the early 90s - whaddaya want from us?)
10.  I find the combination of mint and chocolate to be simply VILE.
11.  Commercials featuring a mother cuddling her baby make me cry.

I'm Tagging these 11 Wonderful Blogs You Must Visit STAT!

11 Fabulous Questions from Tori Peterson of Mommy's Musings!
1. What is an object that you love the most and why?
The outfits my children wore home from the hospital.  They represent the transition to their life at home and all the tumult of emotions I had at that point - crazy love, overwhelmed by responsibility, a bit of fear, hope.
2. What chore do you actually enjoy doing?
Swiffering, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming the floor.  Maybe it's all the movement?
3. What chore do you hate to do?
The dishes for sure.  If I never had to wash another dish again in life, I'd be ecstatic.
4. What is your favorite season?
Summer.  I love not wearing tons of clothes and all that sun and light make me happy.
5. What is your favorite pastime?
Dancing!
6. What is your favorite genre of music?
I love everything, probably except most hip-hop/rap, so this is really tough to answer.
7. What is your favorite type of food?
Japanese, which I don't get to have very often.  The hubs is not a fan.
8. What social network are you addicted to?
My best friend warned me not to get on Facebook.  She knew too well.
9. Who is your favorite author?
Jhumpa Lahiri.  I adore Indian fiction.  Her ability to tell a story and convey a character's state of mind is brilliant.  Her characters are complex yet relatable.
10. What was your favorite movie as a child?
Grease.
11. What is your all time favorite movie now?
American Beauty.

11 Questions From Me:
1.  What's your favorite vacation you have taken?
2.  Name a historical figure you'd like to be able to interview.
3.  What is your favorite holiday?
4.  Store where you'd bankrupt yourself if there were no consequences?
5.  Favorite room in your home?
6.  How do high heels make you feel?
7.  Most overrated celebrity?
8.  Favorite 80s song?
9.  Thing you would do monthly if time/money allowed?
10.  Your go-to drink? (If you're wondering about alcoholic or not, your call...)
11.  Your current favorite TV show?

    2. Aaah, I just posted a comment here, and I think it didn't go through, so I'll try to type it again. I just wanted to let you know that it's taking me awhile to figure out who to pass the award along to, and also to come up with 11 things about myself! It's hard! Anyway, I just didn't want you to think that I'm shirking my award-passing-along responsibilities! I will definitely get to it, but if you don't see the post up right away, don't worry, it's coming! Thank you again, Keesha! :)

  6. Keesha.... CONGRATULATIONS!!! Although it seems like many moons ago (it's been months) .. I remember my first award given to me... I felt so honored and still do. I love that your favorite food is Japanese... so is mine. Here's a tip... my husband too has some foods that are not his fav that I can not live without... so I will make it for myself and have it for lunch when he is not home, freeze the rest so I have treats for another lunch. Hope this put a smile on your face for a future Japanese meal. Have an awesome day. Blessings from Carla!!
